Best way to hack a scph 79001 7D ps2 slim?

So first my main goal is to play burned backups of games. I've heard I can just burn swap magic 3.8 and do it that way but I want to make sure, do I still need to block the sensors and if so do I need to do only 2 or the one that's inside the ps2.

Got my hands on a ps2 from japan with model SCPH 15000. Im entirely new to the ps2 console, just wanted to know the easiest way to mod this thing so I could load backups from an external drive. Tried googling but it still not very clear to me, kinda noobish on this ps2 modding thing. TIA

Is there a file explorer anywhere to be found that allows to write to the HDD that goes in the PS2 bay? I need to delete a folder that is probably what's causing my console to bootloop.

Bricked after changing region setting? Modbo 5

So I recently just got a Modbo 5 + a Slim PS2.
I installed it fine without any problems, had fun sticking a bunch of burned games etc.
So basically, I put a NTSC PS1 Crash Team Racing in there, and noticed it was running at 50hz.
Then I went in the Modbo 5 settings (Triangle + Circle) and changed most of the "fix" things to off and set the PS2 to NTSC.

Rebooted, still played in 50hz. So I changed one more setting, the DVD region from 8 to 1.
Rebooted and infinity logo, then the PS2 turns...

Planning to softmod a fat PS2.

I plan on using FreeHDboot. My goal is to be able to play PS2 isos from the HDD. I plan on purchasing a PS2 Network Adapter with Sata inputs and a 320GB Hard Drive.

Is there anything else I need? Do I need a memory card with FreeMCboot? Any links to an up-to-date guide and the latest stable version of FreeHDboot? Do I need any other software to load PS2 isos?

Hi All,

I am hoping it is just a dead mod chip but I have been having issues getting any sort of function out of my Mobo 5. I am assuming as it is a Matrix clone I should some sort of splash screen when turning the console on but nothing. Circle and Triangle don't open up the mod menu and pause doesn't show "Disabled"

I also now can't load retail games, it just comes up saying insert a Playstation 2 Disc.

Taken the mod out and re-wired and checked continuity twice and it all seems fine...

I really want to get into importing games, namely from Japan and a few from the US we never got here in the UK but i'm not sure on the best method of doing so?

Importing a console is the easiest method but if there is less cost/space effective methods then i'm game. I've heard of using SwapMagic too but i can only find 1 or 2 auctions for
the product on ebay. There is also soft modding the console which can be risky? Which would you guys recommend? Or any other ways i can do this would be...

hi there

i had a faulty 90004 ps2 console bad ribbon cable issue
the lens had power the moters was going when i switch the door switch on

when i changed the ribbon cable the lens didn;t have power no more the motors are died

i change the ribbon cable again the same problem


whats could happend i tested the switch of the door and every thing could it be a died servo ic :S :S or a blown fuse

Hi guys, I'm new here to this forum. I have an SCPH-1001 swapped with a KSM-440-BAM laser and it's working smoothly. My little problem is that some scratched discs depending on the game will give me little skips in the FMV. I also have discs with disc rot and one with a ring damage. Is this the cause of the FMV skip? Are TotalConsole KSM-440-BAM's good? Will a KSM-440-AEM laser assembly work perfectly in a SCPH-1001?

PSX DFS model viewer/editor?

Anyone know of a model viewer or editor that can read DFS files?

I got curious and started looking through the Bust-A-Groove game and found a bunch of things, but interestingly no (or few) character textures or files in general.

It seems DFS is a container, but I'm unaware of something that can read these DFS files. I believe they contain both the character model AND the textures.

Any info would be cool, thank in advanced :D

i used usb util to creat the ul. files for gran turismo 4 since its to large to just fit inside a fat32 usb...i place the ul.files on the root of my usb and when i open opl its not there...why is this happening?

Guys I didn't know how to name the post but well, the issue is this:

I just bought a PS2 Slim 90001, the last one. Here in my country, from a very reputable guy, the console was really great, hardly a scratch, reads everything (plus backup ;) just great.

It came with two controllers, both in very good condition, you can tell in the analogue rubber, it has not being used much (it's texture is like a brand new controller) you know? the part that gets sticky and oily? The rubber part is like...

Let me say it now, this has nothing to do with the laser as other burned discs and official games read fine

I recently got some PAL PS2 games from my cousin, the one I'm most interested in being Dead or Alive 2. Yesterday I went and bought a 10 pack of Verbatim DVD+Rs so I can make burned copies of the games and play them on my PS2. The first game I burned was DOA2, as I'm a DOA fan and couldn't wait to play it. I rip the ISO from the original disc, test it with...

What might be the best IDE Hard Drive for a PS2 so I can basically avoid overpaying for a Hard Drive that has way to much space, and get a Hard Drive with the best performance for PS2 Titles.
I'm thinking about getting a used 60gb IDE Hard Drive but I don't know what brand would be best to run PS2 Backups.

well, some months sgo, i bought a ps2 slim 90010, then i researched about hacking in the console and bought a memory card with fmcb, when i put it in the console with a usb with the necesary content, it didnt work.


is there a way to hack my version of the ps2 without modchips?
